Overview

Shunda successfully delivered the Obstetrical Operating Room project at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, enhancing the hospital’s capacity to provide specialized maternity care.

The project involved the construction of two state-of-the-art obstetrical operating rooms, along with supporting spaces designed to optimize patient care and staff efficiency. These included patient holding beds, a clean holding room, housekeeping rooms, soiled holding areas, a nurses’ station, a locker room, and assessment rooms.

In addition to new construction, the project featured significant renovations to 13 existing patient rooms to align with updated healthcare standards. The scope also included the installation of two new air handling units to support the expanded surgical environment, along with critical structural modifications. A key component of the project was the construction of a structural steel floor with an interstitial space, transforming the existing atrium into a fully functional area to house the new operating rooms.

This complex healthcare upgrade required careful planning, infection control measures, and precise coordination with hospital operations to minimize disruptions. Shunda’s expertise in healthcare construction ensured the successful execution of this project, contributing to improved surgical capabilities and patient care at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.
