Morrin School
Overview
This project featured the construction of a replacement single storey K-12 school in the small village of Morrin, Alberta with targeted LEED silver certification. The school is only 2,384m2 with a capacity of 187 students, so unique programming opportunity was limited. The design of the new facility aimed to support a diverse range of learning needs, including project-based learning, online classes, and specialized student supports, given the school’s status as a K-12 institution in a rural community. Project based learning space included a food lab, flex spaces, breakout rooms, and a community library concept were incorporated to facilitate collaborative learning and cater to the developmental needs of students of different ages. Additionally, the inclusion of a sensory room adjacent to the administration suite reflected a commitment to supporting students with unique requirements.
